Trish Paytas is an American singer, model, and YouTuber. She is very active on her YouTube channel posting regular videos that have garnered her 4.9 million subscribers. She also has a huge following of 2.4 million followers on Instagram. But it was in a recent video she uploaded on YouTube that forced her to defend herself after she was bombarded with criticism
In the video Paytas talks about her feelings towards her natural gender and how she was teased by other kids for growing facial hair and she was given male nicknames. She went on to say how she felt more masculine than feminine.
“I identify with men better. People always think there’s something wrong with me because I don’t have that many girlfriends but I do love girls. I love their sensitivity and all the stuff like that. That’s why I identify more as a gay man because I like guys but I also identify as a guy.”
The video did not, however, go down well with viewers and drag queen Vicky Vox who criticized Paytas for exploiting the LGBTQ community to get attention.
“Report this tweet. Using gender identity as clickbait is a privileged act of violence. I’m not gonna stand for it. I don’t care what it’s actually about. The headline and photo used cannot be serious. Trans people are murdered for quietly trying to live their life. Big NOPE”, said Vicky Vox.

To which Trisha replied: “You don’t know me, my journey, my struggle, my transition. I’ve been with a gender identity therapy specialist for the past 6 months cause I hated who I was since I was 3. Think before you tweet , THIS is more harmful than me sharing my story.”

The 31-year-old has responded to the criticism saying that she was not joking when she made the video and later posted on Instagram apologizing if she had hurt anybody. She concluded the video: “I think that’s where I’m at and I feel really free and liberated.”
